Description:
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing head of Columbia facing left with legend around line border: "TO MAKE THE WORLD SAFE FOR DEMOCRACY/WE ARE ONE." Reverse bears the seal of New York within central medallion, with sailing ship flanked by settler and Native American above; legend: "NETHERLAND-FOVNDED/1614", all within beaded border; surrounding legend: "TO HONOR AND WELCOME THE BRITISH AND FRENCH WAR COMMISSIONS/MAY 1917." Two joined round loops attached at top center of medal.
