Brass spikes in envelope (7)
largest: 6 3/8 x 5/8 in. ( 16.2 x 1.6 cm )
These spikes were found inside the hull of a ship uncovered in 1920 during subway excavations at Broad and Front Streets in lower Manhattan. They may not have been part of the ship, since spikes used in ship contruction at the time were usually made of copper.
