The background flora has been identified as Live oak (Quercus virginiana) with Spanish moss; this was the 3rd time Audubon drew this bird, the 1st was on MS River 1/1821, the 2nd time was made for and published by Charles Lucien Bonaparte in plate four of his "Continuation of Wilson's American Ornithology,"
