Description:
Metal trade sign shaped like a hatchet or small axe with a woman's face carved out of the blade; embossed "All Nations Welcome But Carrie."
Gallery Label:
Carrie Nation (1846-1911), a vocal and radical supporter of the temperance movement, was arrested at least thirty times for protesting liquor sales between 1900 and 1910. This sign probably hung in a bar or liquor store.
