Brass struck medal with obverse showing full-length figure of Vernon at left, facing right, sword in his right hand; he is receiving the sword of Don Blass who is kneeling at right, facing left; ship at right; inscription above, at right: "DON BLASS"; legend: "THE . PRIDE . OF . SPAIN . HUMBLED . BY . AD . VERNON."; ornament in exergue. Reverse depicts ships entering harbor, with legend above: 'VERNON : CONQUERED : CARTAGENA"; in exergue, below ornament: "APRIL 1 1741."
