Discover artifacts that illuminate the story of Chains, a novel by Laurie Halse Anderson. Set in New York City during the American Revolution, the book follows an enslaved woman named Isabel as she and her younger sister are sold to a loyalist couple after the deaths of Isabel's mother and first owner. Surrounded by the struggle for liberty, Isabel must fight for her and her sister's freedom from bondage.
