How could Great Britain have won the American War of Independence? Andrew Roberts, author of a new biography of King George III, will discuss the possibility of a British victory with award-winning historian Rick Atkinson. Were the American insurgents always destined to win their struggle with the distant imperial power, or might history have turned out very differently?

Andrew Roberts is Roger and Martha Mertz Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, Distinguished Lehrman Fellow at the New-York Historical Society, and the author of The Last King of America: The Misunderstood Reign of George III. Rick Atkinson (moderator) is the author of The British Are Coming: The War for America, Lexington to Princeton, 1775–1777, the inaugural volume of the Revolution Trilogy.
