Brass cane with tapering shaft and wood veneer; telescope encased within.

According to accession records, this cane was used by the donor's grandfather, General Ebenezer Stevens (1751-1823).
Ebenezer Stevens who was a New York City merchant and a major general in the New York State militia after the American Revolution. Stevens participated in the Boston Tea Party and was a member of the Sons of Liberty during the war.
