Description:
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing seated allegorical female figure holding laurel wreath, surrounded by symbols of science, commerce, and learning; the whole is surrounded by thirty-eight stars and four small vignettes representing the four quarters of the globe. Reverse bears inscription within laurel wreath at center: "AWARDED BY/UNITED STATES/CENTENNIAL COMMISSION"; legend around border: "INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION/PHILADELPHIA, MDCCCLXXVI."
