White metal struck medal with obverse showing draped allegorical figure of Liberty placing laurel wreaths upon figures of Industry and Art kneeling at left and right of her, respectively; date in exergue: "1876"; legend around line border: "IN COMMEMORATION OF THE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE/ACT OF CONGRESS JUNE 1874." Reverse depicts rising Liberty with sword in right hand and left hand pointing toward thirteen stars in glory above; date in exergue: "1776"; legend within beaded border: "THESE UNITED COLONIES ARE AND OF RIGHT OUGHT TO BE FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES." Blue circular cardboard box.
