Description:
Baleen cutlery or letter tray with divided compartment; exterior of sides and central divider with handle all decorated with foliate engraving; letters "M C" engraved on either side of cut-out heart in central divider; wood base and metal corner mounts.
Gallery Label:
This tray, along with a knife and fish line reel, was made by sailors on a Norwegian whaling ship during a whaling voyage to the Ross Sea in the Antartic Ocean.
