Description: 
Pair of white silk toe shoes with leather soles and canvas and leather liners; elasticized ankle straps are sewn to the heel with pink thread; white silk ribbons are sewn on either side of each shoe with pink thread; right shoe signed, "Heather Watts/ "Bugaku"/ jan 15/ 1995" in black ink; maker's marks stamped into the soles.

These toe shoes were worn by Heather Watts while dancing "Bugaku" by George Balanchine on Sunday evening, January 15, 1995. It was her farewell performance as a principal dancer of the New York City Ballet. Heather Watts was a member of the New York City Ballet from 1970 to 1995.
