Sword with curved, single-edged steel blade with three-quarter width fuller and etched interlace designs framing shield and eagle insignia on obverse and similar designs framing initials "U.S." on reverse; white metal half-basket hilt with three branches on obverse side and quillon that curves down abruptly and terminates in a globular finial; bone grip with carved finger grooves; leather tassel attached to knuckle-bow; white metal scabbard with two carrying rings and asymmetrical drag.
