Description: 
Rectangular cardboard sewing box with flat lid attached to box with linen hinges; brown stuffed plush cushion with red printed inscription and flower attached to center of lid, surrounded by blue and white twisted string border; box covered in green paper with stencilled foliate motifs, with strips of metal attached to edge of lid; inside covered with pink paper, with mirror banded with blue paper attached to inside of lid.
Gallery Label: 
This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
