Cambric scarf (fichu) with handmade bobbin lace inset and trim, the inset at the point at the bottom is tulle with a meandering pattern and is two opposing chevrons which resemble the Masonic compass and square, scalloped bobbin tulle trims the upper edge, the two side edges are trimmed with the same lace as the inset, with bobbin tulle worked with a floral motif applied, all the lace pieces have beaded edges.
This fichu belonged to Mrs. Robert Mackie (Catherine G. Frazier, born 1816).
