Vertical rectangular linen sampler stitched with various colors of silk floss; horizontal rows of alphabets and numbers separated by rows of designs in upper portion, motto in center portion, monograms and designs at bottom, border surrounds all sides; cross and satin stitches.

Martha Coggeshall Holly was born in Stamford, CT in 1804 and married John Bissell in Fairfield in 1829.
