Eliza Pilcher (1823-1899) was born in Canterbury, England and married John Vaché Cox in New York City in 1844. She was the daughter of Henry and Frances Pillow Pilcher, and the granddaughter of Maria Cooper, who was a sister of the Mayor of Canterbury, England.
