This ribbon commemorates the General Slocum steamer disaster of 1904. At the monument dedication ceremony on June 15, 1905, Adella Liebenow Wotherspoon, who was the last survivor of the General Slocum steamer disaster, pulled the cord to unveil the monument, which honored the 1,021 passengers who perished in the fire. The 20 month old Adella had lost her sisters Anna and Helen, whose body was never recovered. This ribbon was kept from the 1906 memorial services honoring the victims.
