Three pinback campaign buttons divided horizontally into red, white and blue sections that read "Stassen/ For President", with "Stassen" in blue across the center white section.Harold Edward Stassen (1907-2001) was a lawyer; delegate to Republican National Convention from Minnesota, 1936, 1940; Governor of Minnesota, 1939-43; resigned 1943; served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; candidate for Republican nomination for President, 1948, 1952, 1964, 1968, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992; among the founders of the United Nations in 1945; in 2001, he was the last surviving signer of the United Nations charter.
