Description: 
Soft, brimless dark blue wool felt cap with a band of bright medium blue cloth tape around lower edge and circular red patch with "V/NG" embroidered in gold attached in front; chin strap of fine gold braid with two slides; gilded metal buttons embossed with initials "NG" secure chin strap at either side; quilted black silk lining.
Gallery Label: 
This cap was worn as part of the uniform of the Veteran Corps of the 7th Regiment, National Guard New York. Related uniform parts and accessories, including coat, trousers, and sword with scabbard, were also given by the donor.
