Pair of ear pendants
Overall: 3/4 x 1/4 x 1/4 in. ( 1.9 x 0.6 x 0.6 cm )
Pair of floral form metal ear pendandts with turquoise glass centers and ball drops (one missing); hook back closures.
These earrings were thought to have belonged to the nearly six year old Helen Liebenow, sister of the donor, Adella Liebenow Wotherspoon, who was the last survivor of the General Slocum steamer disaster. On June 15, 1904, fire broke out on the ship and 1,021 passengers perished within minutes. Helen's body was never recovered from the disaster, although her parents found these earrings among the victims' burned bodies and claimed them as their lost daughter's.
