Silver struck medal with obverse depicting female personification of Liberty with eagle and fruit of abundance at her feet; harbor and cityscape in background; surrounding legend: "VERA CRUZ/CERRO GORDO/CHAPULTEPEC/CHERUBUSCO." Reverse depicts figures of European settler and Indian flanking oval shield with seal of New York, surmounted by eagle; legend: "PRESENTED BY THE CITY OF NEW YORK/TO THE N.Y. REGIMENT OF VOLUNTEERS IN MEXICO/Patrick Fallon [engraved]"; engraved inscription in exergue: "Company A." Circular hanging loop attached at top center.
