Moses Dewitt Burnet was a prominent businessman and public servant in Syracuse, New York. He was appointed commissioner for the formation of the Salina and Port Watson Railroad in western New York in 1829, and was one of the founders of the Bank of Salina in 1832 and of the Syracuse Savings Bank in 1849.
