Brass struck shield-shaped medal with obverse showing graphic representation of letters "TENNESSEE". Reverse legend: "U.S.S./ TENNESSEE/ LAUNCHED/ NAVY YARD/ N.Y./ APRIL 30, 1919." Slot hanger fused to top, medal hangs from red, white, and blue silk ribbon.
