Description:
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing battleship at sea; legend: "ADMIRAL GEORGE DEWEY/ U.S.S. OLYMPIA". Reverse shows flags at bottom under cartouches joined by rope with central anchor, each inscribed: "OLYMPIA / BALTIMORE / RALEIGH / PETREL / CONCORD / BOSTON / McCULLOUGH"; legend: "IN MEMORY OF THE SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE VICTORY OF MANILA BAY/ CHICAGO MAY 1, 1900". Loops fused at top left and right; medal hangs by links from copper pinback topped with eagle and two sea creatures flanking "RECEPTION/ COMMITTEE"; anchor with "D" entwined hangs from center of pinback; backed by crimson grosgrain ribbon.
