Silver struck medal with obverse showing right-facing bust-length portrait of Decatur; legend in wide rim: "STEPHEN DECATUR/ 1779-1820." Reverse shows battling ships at sea with eagle at bottom; legend in wide rim: "BATTLE BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES AND THE MACEDONIAN."
