Silver struck medal with obverse showing left-facing bare-headed bust-length portrait of Columbus over crossed anchors bearing scroll "COLON"; legend: "IV CENTENARIO DEL DESCUBRIMENTO DE AMERICA.” Reverse shows stars at top with rays emanating from center, sheaf left center, running horse center, swords and flags right center, twin cornucopias at bottom with scroll "LIBERTAD"; legend: VENEZUELA/ EN LA EXPOSICION/ UNIVERSAL COLOMBINA/ DE CHICAGO/ 1893."
