White metal struck medal with obverse showing (at left center) right-facing hatted bust-length portrait of Columbus labeled "COLUMBUS" and (at right center) left-facing bust-length portrait labeled "C.W.G. FERRIS". Legend around edge: "SOUVENIR MEDAL/ WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION CHICAGO". Legend in center above portraits: 1492 1893"; below portraits: "THE/ FERRIS/ WHEEL/ DIMENSIONS/ HEIGHT 264 FEET WEIGHT 4300 TONS/ CAPACITY 2160 PERSONSENGINES 200 HORSE POWER". Reverse shows ferris wheel at center; legend: "FERRIS WHEEL/ GREATEST MECHANICAL ACHIEVEMENT OF THE AGE."
