White metal struck medal with obverse showing clothed bust of Pope Gregory XIII facing left with legend: ".GREGORIVS.XIII.PONT.MAX.AN.I/.F.P." Reverse depicts winged figure of angel with sword and cross to the left of Huguenot massacre scene; legend above: "VGONOTTORVM.STRAGES.1572." White rectangular cardboard box.

This is a replica of the medal struck by order of Pope Gregory XIII, in the first year of his papacy, to commemorate the Eve of St. Bartholomew of 1752 when thirty thousand protestants were slaughtered in France.
