Bronze struck medal with obverse showing uniformed bust of Jacob Brown facing right with surrounding legend: "MAJOR GENERAL JACOB BROWN." Reverse shows winged allegorical figure of Victory holding standards inscribed "ERIE," "CHIPPEWA," and "NIAGARA" and dictating to muse of History seated at right; legend: "RESOLUTION OF CONGRESS NOVEMBER 3. 1814."; inscription below exergual line: "BATTLES OF CHIPPEWA./JULY 5. 1814./NIAGARA JULY 25. 1814./ERIE. SEP.17. 1814."
