Blue and white pin striped cotton single-breasted jacket; green wool double collar with trumpet insignia at both corners with "2" at the center, collar buttons to the shirt; 4 buttons down the front are missing; closed sleeves with green wool closed, detachable cuffs with 3 buttons against a vertical yellow stripe; 2 panels at the back.
This jacket was worn by Emilio Buch (1833-1900) while he served in the 2nd Battalion, Cazadores Voluntarios de Matanzas, during the Cuban insurrection of 1867. Emilio was the son of Miguel and Catherina (Bou) Buch, natives of Barcelona, Spain. They moved to Matanzas, Cuba around 1833. Emilio died in New York City.
