Brass struck medal with obverse having shield with masonic symbols (open book, square, and compasses) at center, flanked by eagle and lion with sword; Eye of Wisdom within halo of stars above, emitting rays of light; beneath is scrolling band inscribed: "DEUGD,ZY,UW CIERAAD"; clasped hands below; legend around border: "HOLLANDSCHE LOGE STAAT VAN NIEUW YORK/5787." Reverse contains inscription at center: "REISd./A. L. 5810,/BY G. L. OF N.Y./CHgd. TO No. 16/5819: 13,5830:/8,5839:"; surrounding legend: "Fd. SEPt. 20 AS No. 8, ORIGl WARnt STOLEN/[within band] FIRST MASTER JOHN MEYER/I.F. WOOD'S SERIES "D" No. 4."
