Metal tool used for wood engraving; blade has straight sides and pointed tip; mushroom-like wooden handle is rounded on one side and flat on the other and has a brass band surrounding base.

This object belonged to Lockwood Sanford, a wood engraver active in New Haven, Connecticut, in the latter half of the nineteenth century.
