Description:
Light blue wool militia private's greatcoat with closed double collar and shoulder cape; 2 buttons at the collar, 5 buttons down the front of the cape and 7 buttons down the front of the coat; right side horizontal slit watch pocket at the waistline; closed sleeves with chevron-shaped false cuffs, 1 button at each wrist; cape fastens to the bodice at the bottom center with buttons; 2 buttons near the center of the waistline, split skirt with vertical slit pocket on each side, 2 buttons on each pocket flap; all buttons cast with an eagle with a shield in its beak flying above a banner with "N.Y.S.A.", with "EXCELSIOR" above and "NATIONAL GUARD" below; coat lined with red wool, sleeves and pockets lined with white cotton.
