Circular, double-sided wax seal. Obverse: Sun rising above 3 mountains with banderole inscribed "EXCELSIOR" in circular inscription "THE GREAT SEAL OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK" Reverse: depiciton of large promintory rock inscribed in circular border "ERUSTRA" or "FRUSTRA"
