Bronze struck medal with obverse showing nude bust of George Washington facing right with legend: "GEORGE WASHINGTON PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES/1789." Reverse shows clasped hands below crossed peace pipe and tomahawk; legend: "PEACE/AND/FRIENDSHIP."

The obverse die of the Washington Indian Peace medal, based on DuVivier's 1790 Boston siege medal, was produced at the U.S. Mint before June 30, 1903, as it appears in the chief engraver's annual report of that date.
