This bust of General Winfield Scott (1786-1866) was given by Robert Todd Lincoln, the son of President Abraham Lincoln, to Charles Stebbins Fairchild of Cazenovia, New York, on the eve of Mr. Lincoln's departure from Harvard to join General Grant's staff at the front of Virginia.
