Description: 
Rectangular sheet brass sign with curved ends, incised on front in Gothic letters and stamped with three circular holes on either end and middle, two smaller circular piercings, and two small piercings near top fitted with copper wire for hanging.

According to accession records, this plate is from the steamer "Pittston," built in 1852.
