Description:
Leather, brass, and gilt baldric; black leather belt with gilt lacing on exterior, rectangular brass buckle, and shield-shaped tip, with hooks at ends that fasten to brass-mounted sides of rectangular black leather box that has shield-shaped flap with strap that fastens to stud at bottom of box; cast brass numbers fastened in center of flap, encircled by cast inscription inside scroll, atop cross and sunburst.

According to accession records, this baldric was worn by the donor while an officer in the 23rd Regiment, National Guard New York.
