Description:
Silver struck coin with draped bust-length portrait of Jenny Lind facing left with legend: "JENNY LIND." Reverse depicts male bust facing left with surrounding legend: "OSCAR II SVERIGES OGH NORGES KONUNG."
Gallery Label:
Jenny Lind (1820-1887), a renown Swedish opera singer known throughout Europe as "The Swedish Nightingale," was invited by P. T. Barnum to tour America in 1850. Her yearlong tour turned out to be a great success with American public, both common and distinguished alike.
