This is a contemporary copy by an unidentified artist of the original view by Robert Dodd "from the information of Captain Falkinir" who served on the Shannon, also in the Society's collection (1943.486). This is a copy of the second of a pair of hand-colored aquatints by Dodd, published in London in August 1813. This scene represents the Chesapeake being boarded by the crew of the Shannon.
