Carved wooden owl mounted on square base; covered in thick white slip, with traces of polychrome painted decoration.

According to the accession record, this carving is similar to objects in the Murphy doll collection. A letter from the donor indicates that this sculpture may have been a spiritual talisman for an obscure Pennsylvania German religious sect.
