Description: 
Leather and skin pocket book; rectangular brown leather foldout with strap on outer flap of front pocket that fastens to loop at rear of back pocket, and skin lining on interior of front flap.
Gallery Label: 
According to accession records, this pocket book belonged to James K. Polk while Speaker of the House of Representatives (c. 1839), and was found among the Polk Papers in the Library of Congress and later given to the donor by librarian Worthington C. Ford.
