Horizontally oriented perforated paper bookmark with three shades of green silk floss petit pointe needlework, inscription across center, surrounded by decorative border, button-hole stitched on all edges.
Gallery Label:
A document found with this bookmark notes that it was made for Lieut. John P. Decatur, U.S.N. (d. 1857), by Mrs. Black, the wife of the Consul at Smyrna.
