Bronze struck medal with obverse depicting clothed bust of Napoleon facing left with legend above: "BONAPARTE PREMIER CONSUL DE LA REP.FRANCE."; inscription below bust: "BATAILLE DE MARENGO./25 ET 26 PRAIRIAL/AN 8."; all within laurel wreath. Reverse bears inscription: "LE PREMIER CONSUL/COMMANDANT/L'ARMEE DE RESERVE/EN PERSONNE:/ENFANS/RAPPELLEZ-VOUS/QUE MON HABITUDE EST/DE COUCHER SUR LE CHAMP/DE BATAILLE."
