Description:
Oval cardboard bandbox with lid, covered in printed paper with figures on horseback and riding in carriages; light blue ground with printing in brown, olive green, and white; bottom lined with newsprint; top lined with printed paper in French.
Gallery Label:
This box held a beaver hat worn by Hon. Caleb S. Woodhull (1792-1866), Mayor of New York City from 1849 to 1851. Mayor Woodhull was the grandfather of the donor.
