Badge on ribbon necklet and star in a case. Gilt metal and white enamel Maltese Cross suspended from a royal crown, with crowns positioned in the four joins of the cross, suspended from a green, grosgrain ribbon. Central oval medallion features a golden sheaf of wheat on a black enamel background, surrounded by red enamel ring with an inscription in gold, “GUSTAF DEN III INST MDCCLXXII”. Silver star badge in the form of a Maltese Cross with a central wheat sheaf and crown.

Established by King Gustav III on 29 May 1772, the Royal Order of Vasa was awarded to Swedish citizens for service to the state and society, primarily for services to agriculture, mining, art, trade, industry, crafts and education. The Commander 1st Class wears the badge on a necklet, plus the star on the left chest. The order was last conferred in 1974 and is officially dormant.
