Description:
Walnut and textile Queen Anne back stool; tall back curving outward at top with concave crest rail; compass-shaped seat with upholstered slip seat; cabriole front legs with pad feet, square chamfered rear legs, and turned side and medial stretcher; back and seat upholstered in needlepoint with brass tacks along edge of back; evidence of castors on underside of feet.
Gallery Label:
A relatively common English form, American back stools are rare, but were known to have been made in Rhode Island and Massachussetts. The upholstery is likely not original.
