Description:
Lamp with two burners and central, urn-shaped reservoir; stand has square base supporting four-legged square pedestal; cylindrical stem supports reservoir and arms bearing burners; ring with two eagles around reservoir to support glass prisms (missing).

The donor of this lamp recalls seeing it around 1890 in the living room of his mother's mother, Mrs. Frances Augusta (Beals) Baker (1815-1897) in her apartment on the southwest corner of 56th Street and Park Avenue. The lamp may have been owned originally by her mother and father, William Beals (1785-1870) and his wife, Dorothy Whitney Beals (1797-1876) of Boston, MA.
