Reverse has space for engraving at center, enclosed within open laurel wreath, with legend: "AWARDED TO", inscribed upon band held by eagle; engraved inscription below: "Wm. H. Paine/1867." In brown celluloid case with scrollwork relief on front and back, lined in purple velvet.
